SALMOND ‘HELL’

- ■ by STAR REPORTER

A WOMAN claimed she was left in “absolute hell” when Alex Salmond allegedly stripped her naked and forced himself on top of her.

The Scottish Government official, who can’t be named for legal reasons, told a court she felt “hunted” as she tried to fight off the politician during the alleged attempted rape.

Salmond, 65, Scotland’s former first minister, is accused of trying to rape the woman following a dinner at his official residence in Edinburgh in June 2014 and also trying to force himself on her a month earlier.

The alleged victim said: “I felt like I was being hunted. He was aroused, his private parts on top of me.

“I just did one final push to get him away and managed to get him on the other side of the bed. He kept saying to me he will be a great lover.

“I was in absolute hell. I didn’t want any of this. I wasn’t remotely attracted to him. I didn’t want anyone to think I stayed over with him.

“That would be the ultimate humiliation. He had other women. I didn’t want to be like that.”

Salmond has pleaded not guilty to 14 sexual assaults on 10 women.

The jury was told Salmond “reasonably believed [them] to be consenting throughout”.

The trial at the High Court in Edinburgh continues.
