Greedy leaders take the biscuit

-

OUR MPS are shelling out double on biscuits than they did a decade ago, with Kitkats the most popular.

Total biscuit spending in the Commons soared from £22,000 a year to £47,950, a Freedom of Information request found.

When it comes to MPS’ favourites, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is a shortbread fan, while PM Boris Johnson’s top choice is a chocolate digestive.

Former PM David Cameron prefers oatcakes and Ed Davey, Lib Dem joint leader, loves a fig roll.

Labour MP likes flapjacks, while colleague Dan Jarvis chooses Garibaldis.

Former Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg says he likes Rich Tea “if dunked” and Hobnobs if not dunked, and ex-labour MP and former London Mayor Ken Livingstone is fond of a white chocolate Finger.

But former Labour MP Andy Burnham, who is now the Mayor of Greater Manchester, claims he doesn’t eat biscuits, adding: “Give me a beer and chips and gravy any day.”
