BECKHAM’S WELL INTER SIGNING SILVA

- ■ by JEREMY CROSS

DAVID BECKHAM wants to hijack David Silva’s proposed move to MLS rivals New York City.

Inter Miami president Beckham has targeted the Manchester City midfielder and is keen to lure him to Florida this summer.

Silva, 34, (left) will leave the Etihad at the end of this season but is keen to prolong his career.

The playmaker has been linked with a move to City’s sister club in New York but it is understood Silva’s representatives have held a series of talks with Inter Miami bosses about a lucrative contract with them.

Joint owner Beckham (inset) is willing to make him one of the best-paid players in the league.

The former England captain has targeted Silva because he thinks he would be a huge success in the MLS as well as raising Miami’s profile in the United States.

He is also a target of several Chinese Super League clubs.

Silva has won 11 trophies and made almost 430 appearances for City as well as winning the World Cup and European

Championship with Spain. And Beckham knows his reputation as one of the best players of his generation would give his franchise huge kudos as they look to establish themselves. Miami have been left without a single point from the new season after back-to-back defeats in their opening two games.
