ARSENAL’S Premier League clash with Manchester City became the first match on British soil called off over coronavirus fears last night after a player shook hands with an infected club boss.
Some Gunners’ stars were told to “self isolate” after meeting Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Nottingham Forest, after their Europa League defeat on February 27.
The north London side said the risk to players was “extremely low”.
The move came as the World Health Organisation confirmed the outbreak is a pandemic.
A club spokesman said: “Whilst we do not believe there was any close contact with other Arsenal guests or staff, we are advising they should follow the relevant advice if there has been any such contact.”
All of Forest’s players and staff have tested negative for Covid-19.
