2ND COMING FLOPS

-

THE JESUS ROLLS (15) (Download from Monday)

★★

IF you’ve spent the past 22 years hankering for a Big Lebowski sequel you may be prepared to settle for this spin-off.

Sadly, this raunchy adventure for The Dude’s bowling nemesis Jesus isn’t the second coming.

The film is written and directed by actor John Turturro with the Coen Brothers’ blessing. Turturro gets the ball rolling by putting the Gypsy Kings in a cell to serenade Jesus (Turturro) as he makes his walk to freedom.

As in The Big Lebowski, he has served a stretch for sexual offences and is met at the gates by fellow parolee Petey (Bobby Cannavale).

When the pair of rogues team up with sexually frustrated Marie (Audrey Tautou) it turns out Turturro has decided to re-hash an old Gérard Depardieu sex comedy.

That movie, 1974’s Les Valseuses, had a pair of sexually adventurous 20-somethings in the driving seat and feels an odd fit for two grizzled, middleaged jailbirds.

DISNEY+ (Launches on Tuesday)

WE can now have Disney coming out of ears (odd thought) with the launch of its streaming service.

That’s 500 films, more than 350 series and 26 originals. Plus seasons 1 to 30 of The Simpsons. That alone should help while away the odd hour or 200.

A pre-launch deal, ending Monday, gets a year’s subscription for £49.99, a tenner less than usual. The monthly cost is £5.99. Details at Disneyplus.com.

THE ENGLISH GAME (12) (Netflix Originals)
