THE Government has taken £500 off the PICG (Plug In Car Grant) but many manufacturers are holding down the price of their EVS until the end of the month, including Renault, MG and Vauxhall.

YOU’RE looking at the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, a baby four-door coupé that joins the existing 4 Series and recently released 8 Series Gran Coupés.

Based on the new 1 Series – meaning that it’s front-wheel drive as standard – the newcomer is 4,526mm long and 1,800mm wide with frameless windows and a 430-litre boot.

From launch, the 2 Series Gran Coupé is available with one diesel engine plus a couple of petrols.

The most exciting version is the M235 xdrive M Performance, which uses BMW’S 306bhp 2.0-litre engine and four-wheel drive.

The entry-level 218i, powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder with 180bhp costs £25,815. Not a bad price for a pretty stylish car.

RENAULT’S fabulous Alpine A110 sports car will soon be available in another couple of levels.

The Legende GT takes the current Legende model and adds a new colour option called mercury silver.

It’s also got pale gold 18in diamond-cut wheels and translucent white LED tail lights to mark it apart from the other A110s.

The second newcomer is the A110 Color Edition, which is based on the recently introduced and more powerful S model.

It comes in a bright sunflower yellow paint scheme.

Prices haven’t been announced yet but will be before deliveries begin in the summer.

THE new light electric van produced by LEVC, the Midlands-based company building the new London taxi, has now got a name: VN5.

You can’t get much simpler than that. The VN stands for van and 5 is for the five cubic metres of cargo space inside it. The VN5 uses the same EV range extender powertrain as the TX taxi and will have an electric range of 63 miles and a total range of 301 miles.

Full production of the vehicle is due to start in the last quarter of this year.

We’ll let you know prices when we have them but you can bet that this innovative vehicle will be a common sight on our roads from 2021.
