LEON EDWARDS has urged Tyron Woodley to stop ducking him following the cancellation of their welterweight showdown.

‘Rocky’ was scheduled to face the former 170lb king last Saturday in the main event of UFC Fight Night 171 at London’s O2 Arena.

But the Birmingham brawler’s eagerly-anticipated clash with the American fell through after president Donald Trump imposed a ban on travel to the UK to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Woodley has turned his attention elsewhere following the scrapping of his comeback fight, much to the annoyance of the in-form Edwards.

“Stop being a b***h and let’s get the fight done,” Edwards told MMA Fighting. “It was already booked. It got postponed because of what was happening in the world.

“It was out of my control, out of his control and out of the UFC’S control. Now let’s give the fans the fight they want to see.”

The UFC tried to save their annual London card by moving it to the United States at short notice. Edwards learned of the promotion’s last-ditch attempt to keep the event alive hours before they wanted him to board a flight to America.

He said: “I went to sleep on Saturday night, woke up on Sunday around 9am and got a phone call from my manager saying the event’s been cancelled and they want me to get to the States.

“I had to get to the airport in London by 11 am. And I was like, ‘That’s not possible to do that.’”

After winning his last eight bouts in a row, Edwards was hoping to earn his long-awaited crack at the welterweight title with a career-defining victory over Woodley. And after reassessing the landscape of the

■ division, the Team Renegade star firmly believes a fight against the St Louis slugger is the only one that makes sense for him right now.

“For me, there’s no other option,” said Edwards. “I’m way overdue for a title shot, let alone fighting Woodley.

“I’m only fighting Woodley as a favour just to get to beat a former world champion again.

“Add his scalp to this and get the world title. I truly believe I deserved a world title shot two or three fights ago.”
