Raquel: Fools if Horses remade
ONLY Fools And Horses actress Tessa Peake Jones is begging telly bosses not to remake the cult sitcom.
The actress, who played Del Boy’s girlfriend Raquel, joked that bringing the hit show back to life would be “awful”.
Tessa, 62, said: “I am often asked if we will do any more but that could never be, as our creator John Sullivan passed away in 2011.
“I don’t think it would be a good idea to revisit it. I feel it’s best to remember the show when it was at its best. It’s best to let sleeping fools and horses lie!”
She spoke out despite successful revivals of hit shows Gavin And Stacey and Worzel Gummidge.
Earlier this year co-star David Jason told the Daily Star: “It is a shame there isn’t much comedy on TV any more. They seem to be concentrating on drama.
“I don’t know why they are concentrating on that rather than having more comedy.”
POTPOURRI, Rodders!
Only Fools star Tessa Peake Jones is begging telly bosses not to remake the show.
The actress reckons it would be a big mistake. She’s spot on.
TV chiefs seem to be obsessed with revamping old classics.
Some, such as Gavin And Stacey’s Christmas comeback, have proved to be a big hit. But our beloved Only Fools is an exception.
It is such a national treasure it should be left alone.
It’s been too long. A reboot could never live up to the original.
It’s best to remember Del Boy and Rodney when they were at their best.
Let’s not forget – many of the stars, as well as creator John Sullivan, have passed away.
Producers need to stop being lazy and start creating new, exciting shows instead.
You know it makes sense!
