THIS summer should have been history making for this north London five-piece with a string of festival firsts at Latitude, Glastonbury and more.

Covid-19 halted those plans but it’s allowed the band to focus on new music, including single Ticket To Ride.

Singer Daniel Mccarthy said of the song: “We wanted it to feel day-dreamy but also use the imagery of getting on that first train out to shows.” Kawala are an incredible live band but had to fight to keep their music all live.

Lead singer Jim Higson said: “People have tried to push us in other directions and we said we’ll lean but we’ll never bend, we have stuck to our guns.

“It’s funny when we turn up to studios with our drums and whatever and they go, ‘Wait, you actually play your own instruments?’”
