LEEDS IN FITTING TRIBUTE TO JACK
MARCELO BIELSA admitted Leeds were full of mixed feelings after downing Swansea.
On the same weekend the Elland Road outfit lost club legend Jack Charlton, Bielsa’s men virtually sealed a place back in the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
All the away side warmed up with “RIP Big Jack” on their shirts (below) and both teams wore black armbands and held a minute’s silence in his memory.
Ex-swansea man Pablo Hernandez’s 89th-minute winner was the difference at the Liberty Stadium as Leeds paid tribute to Charlton in perfect fashion.
“He [Charlton] is a legend of the club.
“We have difficult feelings,” said Bielsa.
“The fact we won when we have had bad news is amazing.
“But I don’t want to talk about the victory and the loss of one person. I don’t want to link the two things.
“The match was very close with few chances. Our possibilities grew as the game went on.
“In the last 30 minutes we had opportunities to score and that was the difference.
“We improved our offensive play in the second half and Luke Ayling had more of an impact.
“When you score at the end it’s a higher feeling of emotion.”
Hero Hernandez said: “Everyone at the club remembers him [Charlton].
“He’s part of the history of our club.
“This win is for him. We know it’s a massive win but you can never think all the work is done until the season finishes.”
