JOSE MOURINHO thanked his players for rescuing his Europa League hopes – then said he wants to win the whole tournament.

ROY HODGSON has blasted a ‘cowardly’ racist attack on his Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha was abused on social media before his side’s 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa yesterday and last night a 12-year-old was arrested in connection with the crime. The player posted a series of screenshots from an Instagram account called ‘jackdolan_avfc.’

his side’s loss, was told, ‘You better not score tomorrow you black c***’ before the poster added, ‘Or I’ll come to your house dressed as a ghost.’

The offender also sent a picture of a Ku Klux Klan gathering while another displayed an edited box of cornflakes carrying the words ‘c***flakes’ showing a man with his face blacked up.

West Midlands Police arrested a 12-year-old from Solihull last night while Villa bosses have vowed to ban the culprit for life.

Palace manager Hodgson (inset) said: “I think it’s important to eradicate this type of cowardly and despicable abuse.

“The punishment cannot be serious enough.”

The Premier League said in a statement: “This behaviour is completely unacceptable and we stand alongside Wilfried Zaha in opposing discrimination in any form. “Through our dedicated reporting system, we can take immediate action on cases like this.”

A Palace statement read: “This is an absolute disgrace and should not be happening. We stand with Wilf and anyone else who has to suffer such horrific abuse.”
