TODD BACK IN CORRIE
But shamed star Bruno still out in cold
STREET fave Todd Grimshaw is to return. But bosses have ruled out a comeback for Bruno Langley – axed after two sex attacks – as Eileen’s son.
CORONATION Street’s Todd Grimshaw is making a sensational return to Weatherfield – with a brand new face.
Castings are already taking place to find a new actor for the role originally played by Bruno Langley.
He was axed from the soap in 2017 after being convicted of sexually assaulting two women in a bar in Manchester.
Following the case, ITV cancelled his contract and his popular character was written out of the show.
It was a major blow for Bruno, 37, who had played Todd on and off in the soap since 2001.
Viewers were told his character had “gone on the run” after assaulting a police officer.
Now, TV chiefs have decided to bring him back but with a new actor playing the role. In recent months, there have been a few hints that Todd might be on the way back.
His mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) told Fiz earlier this year: “Every Mother’s Day or birthday it’s the same. I think this will be the time I hear from him but I never do of course.”
And actor Daniel Brocklebank, left, whose character vicar Billy Mayhew had a gay relationship with Todd, teased how he is set to come face to face with “a blast from the past”. Meanwhile, Bruno is now working as a professional portrait photographer and said of his new career: “I’m really happy being creative in this way.
“I’ve been taking time out to catch my breath, reassess what is important to me and to make myself a better person.”
