Stairway to Heaven singer Robert and Sabbath guitarist Tommy signed the rare instrument, which is among music memorabilia up for grabs.

Sir Elton John’s metallic blue Gucci tracksuit is also for sale

■ and predicted to sell for a similar amount at the Musicares Charity sale in Beverly Hills next month.

A black outfit worn by Ozzy Osbourne has a guide price of £4,600-£6,100, while a pair of his round glasses could cost £3,800. ★

Billie Eilish, Willie Nelson, Cher, Depeche Mode and Hans Zimmer have also donated items.

LORD Brittan’s widow has told how she was “traumatised” when police raided their home and took her husband’s slippers and Inspector Morse videos.

Detectives acted on false claims by Carl Beech that former Tory minister Lord Brittan was part of a VIP paedophile ring who had raped him and murdered three young boys.

However, Beech was exposed as a liar and a fantasist and sent to prison for 18 years in 2019 for perverting course of justice.

In a forthcoming BBC documentary called The Unbelievable Story of Carl Beech, Lady Diana Brittan says: “There was a knock at the door and two police officers said they had to search the house.

“I remember saying: ‘I don’t know why you are taking those.’ These were videos of Inspector Morse and things like that.”

What was most shocking, according to housekeeper Sheila

Walton, was when officers took slippers belonging to Lord Brittan, who died of cancer in 2015.

She said: “The thing that hurt the lady more than anything was they took his slippers.”

Lady Brittan added: “There is something about slippers which are different from shoes.”

Beech’s claims proved to be pure fabrication, and Lady Brittan said: “I can’t fathom why anyone would do that to a group of random people. It’s beyond my comprehension.”

● The Unbelievable Story of Carl Beech airs on Monday, August 24, at 9pm on BBC2.
