JACK GREALISH is desperate to prove Gareth Southgate wrong after finally winning an England call-up.

The Aston Villa star’s continual omission from the England scene ended as he was drafted in for the Nations League clashes with Iceland and Denmark.

Rashford and Harry Winks withdrew from his squad through injury.

Grealish’s absence from the original squad whipped up a storm and strengthen­ed the theory that Southgate’s snub was personal.

Southgate had previously acknowledg­ed Grealish’s talents but said that he needed top-flight experience.

But the withdrawal of Rashford and Winks means it could be a memorable summer for the Villa ace after all.

It could prove to be final justificat­ion for his decision five years ago to turn his back on the Republic of Ireland, who he had represente­d at junior level.
