The Aston Villa star’s continual omission from the England scene ended as he was drafted in for the Nations League clashes with Iceland and Denmark.
Three Lions boss Southgate finally caved in over his reluctance to pick playmaker Grealish when Marcus
Rashford and Harry Winks withdrew from his squad through injury.
Grealish’s absence from the original squad whipped up a storm and strengthened the theory that Southgate’s snub was personal.

Southgate had previously acknowledged Grealish’s talents but said that he needed top-flight experience.
The midfielder played an instrumental part in helping Villa successfully escape relegation with eight goals and six assists in their first season back in the big time last term.
But the withdrawal of Rashford and Winks means it could be a memorable summer for the Villa ace after all.
It could prove to be final justification for his decision five years ago to turn his back on the Republic of Ireland, who he had represented at junior level.
