GHOULS TARGET CILLA & DODDY

Gravestones daubed with filthy graffiti

- by EMILIA BONA

SICK vandals have attacked the graves of iconic stars Cilla Black and Ken Dodd.

Cilla’s headstone was daubed with abuse about their fellow Liverpool legend John Lennon.

THE graves of Liverpool legends Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd have been defaced by heartless yobs.

Offensive graffiti was scrawled on their headstones. Cilla’s had the words “John Lennon f*** off” sprayed on the back in green paint. It has not been disclosed what was written on Sir Ken’s.

The comedian’s headstone was removed to be cleaned yesterday, while Cilla’s was restored at Liverpool’s Allerton Cemetery, where the Scouse celebrities are buried.

A council spokesman said: “We were appalled to discover this morning that the graves of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd had been vandalised overnight. We would urge anyone who has any information to contact the police.”

Sir Ken died in 2018, aged 90, just two days after marrying his long- term partner Anne Jones.

Surprise Surprise star Cilla died in 2015, aged 72, from a stroke after falling at her villa in Spain.

Shortly after her burial, thieves stole a bronze plaque inscribed with her name from her grave.

CILLA Black and Ken Dodd were bona fide national treasures.

The two Liverpudlian legends had the ability to make us laugh, smile and cry like very few others.

There were mass tributes and outpourings of grief when both of them died.

So the last thing you would expect is for their legacies to be disrespected in such a disgusting manner.

Sick vandals had yesterday desecrated their gravestones in Liverpool.

These ghouls’ crude messages on Halloween week are an insult to what these performers stood for. And a cruel blow to their grieving families and friends.

The defacing of any memorial is always disgusting and totally senseless.

How low can people go? These idiots deserve the book thrown at them.

Let’s hope they’re in for a Surprise Surprise visit from the police soon.
