SMARTPHONE battery life could be significantly increased, scientists say.

The lithium- ion units would be “improved” by packing them with “conductive fillers”.

These would make the electricity flow more efficient in batteries – also used to power items from laptops to electric cars.

Guihua Yu, of the US Institute of Physics, said: “When an electrically conductive filler is added, significant increases in conductivity will occur.”
