CASTLE’S SPIDERS ARE TO DAI FOR

Hosts reveal camp surprise

- ■ by JACK HARDWICK news@ dailystar. co. uk

I’M A Celebrity campmates hoping for an easy ride with the show being switched to Wales are in for a shock.

Hosts Ant and Dec have warned that giant spiders found in and around the new camp at Gwrych Castle are bigger than those seen crawling in the jungle camp in Australia. Dec, 45, said: “We’re very curious to see how they get on in a cold environment rather than a hot one.” Keen to stress that the show’s producers will not be going soft on the campmates due to their wintry surroundings, Ant, 44, added: “Don’t worry, they’re not easing back on the trials. They’ll still be as horrific as they normally are.” And in an interview with TV Times, Dec revealed: “Some of the spiders here are bigger than ones in Australia – that’s all I’m saying.” Various venues close to the castle have been tipped to host revamped Bushtucker trials including a Snowdonia zip wire, Llandudno ski slope and museum Ruthin Gaol – a former prison.

Drone images taken over the castle last week have shown that producers have already built a giant prison in the ruin’s grounds. The elaborate set consists of 10 barred cells side by side – potentially one for each of the contestants to try and break free from.

As well as featuring giant arachnids, the celebs’ new home is said to be haunted. Visitors to the castle have previously reported ghost encounters. The Countess’s Tower is said to have been the centre of paranormal activity and haunted by the Countess of Dundonald, who died in 1924.

One castle volunteer castle reported a “handrail giving way to nothingness” before she was “propelled up the stairs”. I’m A Celebrity’s launch show is on ITV at 9pm on Sunday.
