Kremlin expels envoys

RUSSIA is expelling diplomats from Sweden, Poland and Germany for attending rallies in support of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

The Foreign Ministry said they were “persona non grata” and would leave “shortly”.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel branded the move “unjustified”.

Tens of thousands of people across Russia have protested against the arrest of Navalny, 44, who was jailed this week on what he says are trumped up charges.

He recently returned to Russia from Germany after claiming the Kremlin tried to kill him with a nerve agent.
