It’s Carr SMASH for Brit top comic
JIM IN NO1 SPOT
JIMMY Carr is Britain’s funniest comedian, a study of laughter has revealed.
Volunteers watched 20 of the UK’S most popular comics over a three-week period.
They were hooked up to a decibel monitoring machine, which measured how often they laughed out loud during a onehour stand-up show.
Carr, the 8 Out of 10 Cats host who is known for his dark humour, got the most laughs, with four minutes and 46 seconds.
Car Share star Peter Kay was second, gaining four minutes and 38 seconds per hour.
And posh funnyman Jack Whitehall took bronze as Brits laughed for three minutes and 59 seconds an hour.
Michael Mcintyre, Billy Connolly and Ricky Gervais also made the top 10.
Welsh joker Rhod Gilbert was found to be the least funny
comedian of the 20. Volunteers laughed for only one minute and 50 seconds of the hour.
Researchers at online store Onbuy.com counted a giggle when the volume reached at least 60 decibels.
The duration of the laughter was measured by the total time in seconds that it was sustained per person on average for each comedian’s show.
