STATUE OF SIR TOM WALKS ON

A LIFE-SIZE bronze statue of Captain Tom will “immortalise” the NHS hero following his death.

Inspired by his feat, Leeds artist Tony Clark commissioned a statue dubbed The Walk Of Hope in his honour. The sculpture was then handcrafted in Indonesia and cast in bronze before being sent to Leeds in December.

Now Tony hopes Captain Tom’s family will help decide where the work is sited.

Clark Sculptures, said: “Captain Sir Tom Moore gave so many people so much hope in a bad time and he definitely inspired me.

“I hope this statue helps to immortalise him so that people can see him for what he did and when he did it.”

Tony has set up a Gofundme page with the hopes of raising £60,000 to cover the cost of making the statue.

And the artist has pledged to donate 10% of all donations made to The Captain Tom Foundation.
