Flakes stunned by ‘Kirk’
CAPTAIN Kirk has joined the war on snowflakes who try to rewrite history by tearing down statues.
Star Trek actor William Shatner, 89, got into a Twitter battle after criticising the woke campaign to wipe out memorials of figures with links to slavery.
He tweeted: “I am so tired of presentism & moronic people who continue to place today’s value systems on the past to judge.
“They cannot comprehend that the fact they have the freedom to judge is because of what brave people did in the past.”
One fan replied: “We don’t record history through statues. We record them in books.”
Shatner fired back: “Tell that to the Egyptians and other cultures where their statues are some of the only records of their history.’’
Another Twitter user argued: “The Egyptians did have a form of writing and their statues were for deification.”
But Shatner retorted: “And that language would still be unknown to us if it wasn’t for the Rosetta Stone.”
