Climate batters fish size

GLOBAL warming could lead to shrinking portions of fish and chips.

Rising sea temperatures and limited oxygen in UK waters, such as the North Sea, means smaller adult cod and haddock sizes.

University of Aberdeen researchers warned that the “decrease in adult body size is likely to reduce commercial fisheries yields”.

Fishing is worth around £1.4billion to the UK economy and employs more than 24,000 people.
