TEA ‘N ROAST

Munch dinner at breakfast & lose weight

OVERWEIGHT people should eat leftover roast dinner or curry for breakfast to lose weight.

Dr Rangan Chatterjee, of BBC’S Doctor in the House, said eating dinner first thing is better than healthy-looking granolas that are packed with sugar.

He warned that some cereals cause “bloodsugar rollercoasters” and make us crave more sugary foods later in the day.

The TV doctor added: “Eating dinner for breakfast sets the tone for the day and leads to effortless weight loss.

“This might take a bit of extra planning, but the knock-on effects can be truly life-changing.”

In his new book, Feel Great Lose Weight, he recommends leftover roasts, dahl and rice, eggs with broccoli and potatoes, salmon and vegetables, and goat’s cheese with roasted courgettes, peppers and sweet potatoes.

Dr Chatterjee, 42, said: “Many of us have fixed ideas about breakfast and only consider options such as sugary cereals, toast or croissants, but this is a mistake.

“Breakfast has an impact on your mood, your concentration and your hunger – and has a powerful influence on your subsequent choices throughout the day.”

The BBC One Breakfast Show resident doctor said that preparing the food does not have to take long: “Many people cook extra the night before so they can simply pop the leftovers in the fridge and it’s ready for them to reheat in the morning.”
