Giles just sub-lime

PAUL WARNE claims wing-back Ryan Giles has become Rotherham’s very own supersub.

Giles has come off the bench to score in two of his last three appearances and Warne says he reminds him of David Fairclough, the former Liverpool striker known for the impact he made coming on a substitute.

The Millers boss said: “He’s close to playing but in fairness he has come on in two games and scored two goals, so if he keeps doing that, he’ll be like a modern-day David Fairclough, for those of a certain age.”

Warne’s side face Preston today and he added: “We’ve scored as many as teams at the top of the league and goal difference can be worth another point come the end of the season.”
