A DWARF is appealing to find her dream date this Valentine’s Day after a decade of disappointment.

Mary Russell, 52, was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, and says she has always been “unlucky in love”. But the former lingerie model has now decided to up the search for her soulmate.

Mary, who hasn’t been on a special date on Valentine’s Day, which is tomorrow, for more than a decade, said: “I’m currently doing absolutely nothing for it.

“I’ve missed out on Valentines for a very long time, which is a real shame.

“I have been in serious relationships before and was married for three years before my divorce in 2001.”

Mary, who stands at 4ft tall, prefers to date men of average height but will open up her preferences in the hope of finding love.

The Londoner, who has also appealed online in her quest to land a man, added: “I’m not too bothered by someone’s height anymore as long as we have a connection.

“My perfect Valentine would just be having someone caring and kind. I won’t give up on love.”

A DOG saved the life of her owner who was sleeping while fire spread through her home.

Jack Russell terrier Bella’s barking woke Diane Thompson at 3am as her living room filled with smoke.

The blaze, which began when a plug socket caught fire in a cupboard under the stairs, totally destroyed much of the two-storey home.

But Diane said if it were not for her pet’s actions, she may not have survived.

The 51-year-old said: “It could have been a lot worse.

The cupboard is directly under my bed. She saved my life.”

When she first awoke, Diane thought her pet had seen a cat outside the house. She added: “I was irritated but thought as I’m awake I may as well use the loo, so went downstairs. When I got into the living room, I found it was filled with smoke.”

Diane doesn’t have home

insurance and is facing the prospect of renovating the house, in Alford, Lincs, from scratch herself.

A fundraiser has since been set up to help her cover the costs. She said: “I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped.”
