South top for beach holidays

THE top beaches for UK stayat-home summer holidays are on the south coast.

Bournemouth was voted the nation’s No1 in a poll, with Cornish beaches St Ives, Bude and Newquay all in the top 10.

Devon has seven beaches in the top 50, while Blackpool flies the flag for the north. Sarah Young, of WWF-UK which did the study with Sky Ocean Rescue, said: “There are a number of things we can be doing at home to protect our beautiful coastlines and ensure staycations can be enjoyed for years to come.”
