Plea for stories

-

HISTORIANS are appealing for wartime memories for the 80th anniversary of a team of Polish paratroopers trained in the UK.

The Cichociemni led the resistance against Hitler in Nazi-occupied Poland.

Many trained at Audley End House in Essex, but left little trace behind.

Andrew Hann, of English Heritage, said: “People may remember bangs in the night, or troops crossing fields in the darkness.”

A “FREE speech champion” is to fine universities that gag people, says the Education Secretary.

Gavin Williamson will announce the new measures tomorrow in a bid to give more legal protection over free speech.

The “champion” would help those who had been demoted or dismissed because of their views.

Mr Williamson said he would like the Office for Students to take “more active and visible action”.
