Bride’s snub at church

-

MY daughter was devastated when her brother said there would be no bridesmaids at his wedding.

He said his future wife wanted to keep things simple.

You can imagine our confusion when four little flower girls followed my new daughter-in-law up the aisle. My daughter, 16, fled the church in tears. My son said there had been a few “last minute changes”.

Now the family is split. My daughter isn’t talking to her brother and I have to conclude that my new daughterin-law is a devious piece of work. Would it have hurt them to include our girl too?

JANE SAYS: You’ve got to let this go.

Your daughter-inlaw was entitled to have her wedding her way. It’s sad that she wasn’t able to be upfront, but the wedding has passed.

Maybe you could reassure your daughter that this wasn’t personal.

Clearly the bride only wanted little flower girls. Promise your daughter a treat and accept that there will be more family challenges ahead.

If your daughter-inlaw is going to be tricky, vow to keep your cool so that feuds don’t escalate.
