15m IT’S JABBY MONDAY!

-

MORE than 15million people in the UK have now had a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. It is the equivalent of everyone in the Government’s top four priority groups as promised on January 4. Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi confirmed the milestone as Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said the Government was confident it was “on track” to offer a jab to people most at risk by today.

The priority list set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation includes nine categories.

The top priority was care home residents and their carers, followed by people over 80 and frontline health and social care workers.

The third group was people aged 75 and over, and the fourth was anyone over 70 and those deemed “clinically extremely vulnerable”.

Mr Zahawi tweeted: “15,000,000! Amazing team.”

Over-50s are scheduled for the jab by the end of April, and then all adults.

Another 258 people have died within 28 days of testing positive, bringing the UK total to 117,166.
