A HERO teenager saved an elderly woman’s life – after spotting she hadn’t read her newspaper.

Paperboy Bob Purt, 18, noticed the previous day’s issue was still in the letterbox and alerted the newsagent.

Police were called and the woman, 88, was found to have been lying on the floor for three days after a fall. Bob said: “I noticed that one of the houses I deliver to had not picked up their newspaper from the day before.

“And there was what looked like some post on the floor still as well. I had a feeling something was wrong. I contacted a colleague. I had a concern as I knew it was an older lady who lived there on her own.”

The family of the woman, who lives in Birchington, Kent – and doesn’t want to be named – put out a Facebook appeal to track down Bob.

She was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. Bob – a paperboy for four years – added: “I know lots of people are proud of what I have done, but for me it just felt like the right thing to do.”
