Designer gear yobs pose in front of burning police vehicle at Bristol riots
POLICE have vowed to track down Kill The Bill rioters who left 21 cops injured in a night of violent mayhem.
Detectives were scouring footage from CCTV and body-worn cameras in a bid to identify 500 thugs involved in the rampage in Bristol.
Two officers were seriously hurt in the violence. One suffered a punctured lung and broken ribs, and another a broken arm.
Twelve patrol vans and cars were set alight or wrecked, while “significant damage” was caused to a police station as rioters chanted: “Kill the bill.”
Pictures on social media showed people dressed in posh designer gear posing in front of a burning police van. One wore a £250 North Face jacket, while another had £90 Nike Air Force 1 trainers as well as a £175 Coach belt bag.
An onlooker said: “There were designer tops, jackets, jeans and trainers everywhere.’’
Hardcore
Eight people were arrested during Sunday night’s trouble – six for violent disorder and two for possessing offensive weapons.
Around 3,000 people had joined the protest against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill which will see officers handed new powers to tackle demonstrations.
Avon and Somerset Chief Constable Andy Marsh said the demo had been “hijacked’ by “extremists”, and blamed the violence on a “hardcore of serious criminals hidden within those 3,000”.
Ch Const Marsh said: “I’m incredibly saddened by the dreadful scenes we saw here.’’
Bristol mayor Marvin Rees added: “It’s selfish, it is selfindulgent and self-centred activity – people living out their revolutionary fantasies.’’
PM Boris Johnson condemned the scenes as “unacceptable”.
