JAMES Arthur revealed he had paramedics ready in his Whatsapp contacts during his darkest times after The X Factor.

The singer’s mental health spiralled out of control when he was dropped by Simon Cowell’s label Syco for bad behaviour.

He was so convinced his panic attacks would be the end of him that he felt the need to be in constant contact with medical professionals.

James revealed: “Any X Factor winner that’s been dropped – the odds are massively stacked up against you to ever do anything ever again.

“So part of me was like ‘this really is over now’ and the other part of me was like ‘well you wanted this – you did everything you could to make sure it happened’ because I pushed everyone away.

“That began two and a half years of severe depression. I had a couple of paramedics on my Whatsapp because I was ringing ambulances that regularly. I was convinced I was having heart attacks.”

Now in a healthy place and back with new song Medicine, James says keeping fit is a big help.

He added: “I’m no longer on medication – I don’t do anything now. I just have a run a few days a week to get those endorphins that way or play football, or hit the pads, or be creative. “Medication is not for me personally.”

And James has recently found his faith too, adding: “For the first time ever, I have really started to believe in stuff like that.

“Some of the people I look up to the most, like fighters, they get in the ring and once they’ve won the fight they give all their glory to God because they truly believe he had their back the whole time in that fight.”

James thinks God saved him too and said: “I’ve been close to giving up on a few occasions for sure.”
