AN AJERO-PLANE

- By JASON HEAVEY

AJERO (2.35, nap) is strongly fancied to continue his progression at Huntingdon today.

A half brother to the talented Charbel, Kim Bailey’s youngster has won all three of his starts this season with plenty in hand.

Cosy victories in novice events at Ludlow and Kempton were followed by success in his first stab at a handicap at Market Rasen where he had subsequent Imperial Cup hero Langer Dan back in fourth.

He is 9lb higher today and faces just three rivals, all of whom will appreciate the good ground. But they will struggle to cope with this upwardly mobile six-year-old.

At Wetherby DEMOCRATIC OATH (3.25, nb) stands out in the two-mile hurdle.

His close fifth to Bareback Jack at Musselburgh two runs ago is the standout form as he had Cheltenham Festival hero Belfast Banter behind him.

Democratic Oath has since won a small race at Sedgefield and an opening handicap mark of 120 looks lenient.

Also at Wetherby,

HILLCREST (4.55, trb), who cost Trevor Hemmings £190,000, should win the bumper.

He ran a blinder on his Doncaster debut when he was just touched off.

Back at Huntingdon,

CHAMPAGNE LILY

(3.10) is interesting. She was a prolific winner in point to points on good ground but has struggled in three runs for Nigel Twistondavies. This is a drop in grade but the decent surface could bring about improvement.

Best bets at Taunton are WHO SHOT JR

(3.17) and CHEZ HANS (3.47) who will both like the drying

ground.
