Double blow for Sancho

- ■ by DAVID MCDONNELL

MISSING: Sancho

JADON SANCHO will play no part in either leg of Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League quarter-final with his old club Manchester City.

And boss Edin Terzic admitted he cannot guarantee that England winger Sancho, 21, will stay with the club this summer if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Sancho has a thigh injury and Terzic said: “Jadon didn’t join the squad for the game so he stayed in Germany and is doing his rehab in Dortmund.

“He started with a bit of running for the last couple of days and we hope that it won’t take a long time to get back to team training, but he won’t be ready for the second leg next week either.

“We still have seven games left in the Bundesliga to qualify for the Champions League.

“It’s a bit difficult now at the minute but it’s still possible. Then at the end of the season we’ll see what’s going to happen next.”

Failure to make the Champions League is also likely to have an effect on what happens with superstar striker Erling Haaland.

But Terzic said he had no issue with Haaland’s agent, Mino Raiola, and father Alf-inge Haaland holding talks with Real Madrid and Barcelona over a potential move for the Norwegian.

“It has no impact on me because I can’t stop Raiola and Alfie Haaland from travelling,” added Terzic.

“It’s up to them, they’re grown-ups and they can choose whatever they want to do.

“I just can have an impact on Erling and we are happy to have him in our team.

“He’s a lovely guy, his qualities are well-known all over the world and we are proud and happy he’s part of our team.”
