UNITE FOR TOM’S 100 CHALLENGE

-

★CAPTAIN Sir Tom Moore’s family have launched a challenge to encourage people to celebrate his spirit of generosity.

The late World War Two veteran raised more than £32million for NHS charities by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday on

April 30 last year. On what would have been the weekend of his 101st birthday, the family have rolled out a Captain Tom 100 Challenge.

Participants are asked to create their own challenge around the number 100.

His daughter Hannah Ingrammoore said the challenge was “a chance to bring joy, put money back into charities and support the Captain Tom Foundation, which, after all, is the legacy of hope that he’s left us behind”. ★

BORIS Johnson pays a visit to the Astrazeneca plant where he said he would ignore scientific advice on easing the lockdown.

The PM insisted he won’t deviate from his Covid recovery roadmap – despite warnings from scientific advisers that the plan could result in a third wave of the virus.

The Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Modelling, which advises the Government, last week said that an increase in fatalities is “highly likely” during the later stages of the road map.

Speaking to reporters at the plant in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Mr Johnson said: “It’s important we take each step on the roadmap as it comes.

“At the moment, as I look at all the data, I can’t see any reason for us to deviate from the roadmap that we have set out, we are sticking to it.”
