TIGER FEAT WILL BATTER BOOKIES

Double National star on a roll

- ■ by JERRY LAWTON

GRAND National hero Tiger Roll will give bookmakers a mauling if he romps home at Aintree again today.

The Irish super-horse matched Red Rum with back-to-back wins in 2018 and 2019. He was favourite to become the first horse in history to land three-in-arow when last year’s race was scrapped after Britain went into lockdown.

Owner Michael O’leary pulled Tiger Roll out of this year’s race, complaining handicappers had lumped on too much weight.

Instead the Ryanair boss has entered the horse he once branded a “little rat of a thing” in today’s Betway

Bowl race as the three-day meeting gets under way.

Bookies fear the fivetime Cheltenham Festival winner will cost them millions if he wins.

William Hill’s Rupert Adams said: “To put it simply, punters will be rolling in it if the Tiger delivers.

“I can’t see it being anything less than a sevenfigure loss for the bookies.”

And David Stevens, of Coral, added: “It’s great that race fans still get to see him in action at Aintree this week.”
