Jail for fake fall to death

A MAN who helped his wife fake her own death so she could avoid going to prison has been jailed.

Rodney Wheeler told cops his wife Julie – who was awaiting sentence after being convicted of fraud – had fallen off a cliff.

Rodney, 48, appealed for her safe return and rescuers were further deceived when they discovered Julie’s shoe and cell phone.

But Julie, 44, was found hiding in a closet at their home in West Virginia, US, two days later.

Rodney was jailed for eight months and Julie got four and a half years.
