EFL are full of it

- ■ by JOHN CROSS

EFL bosses hope fans will be back in full stadiums from the start of next season.

Trevor Birch, the EFL chief executive, revealed clubs have already lost £250m in the past year because of the pandemic.

The FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, April 18, will be the first test event with 4,000 spectators.

The Carabao Cup final will have up to 8,000 fans and the EFL also hope to have up to 10,000 fans for the Wembley play-offs.

Birch said: “Our goal is that, from August 6, we will be back in full stadia in line with the Government roadmap.

“Our aspiration has to be that. Hopefully with the introduction of Covid certification, which seems to be the direction of travel, that may well assist us in getting to that level.”
