Mount can be goal-den boy

- ■ by PAUL BROWN

JORGINHO has tipped Mason Mount to become a goal machine – because hard work pays off.

Mount sent Chelsea on the way to a big Champions League win over Porto with his fifth goal under Thomas Tuchel.

No other Blues player has scored more since the German took over.

But his team-mate claims the England star can reach even higher standards.

Jorginho (inset) said: “He works for the whole team. He’s not just focused on goals for himself.

“And that means the goals will just come naturally for him because he works hard, he is always in the right position.

“He needs to keep working like that and then of course he will get a lot of goals in his career.”

Mount has scored eight times this season in all competitions and has already equalled his goals total from the last campaign.

He has also become Chelsea’s main man over the last few weeks and Jorginho reckons the 22-year-old deserves all the credit.

The Italy midfielder said: “That progression is because he’s a humble guy, he works very hard and wants the best for the team.

“And then everything good comes back to him because he doesn’t just work for himself.

“He works so hard for everyone so he deserves everything he is getting now. He will grow a lot more because the progression is so big.”

Tuchel admitted after Wednesday night’s 2-0 quarter-final win that Mount’s opener eased the tension after their 5-2 humiliation by West Brom last Saturday. Jorginho said: “At the start of this game, it was hard to escape the pressure but then we got more comfortable.

“At moments like that, we need to look at our own mistakes and learn from those mistakes.

“I think we need to look at every competition and see an opportunity.

“We need to work hard, be humble and be hungry for titles and winning games.”
