No ifs or buts ..it’s the Snuts

SCOTS LADS TOP CHARTS

KATY Perry presented

Sam Smith with the award for Outstanding Music Artist at the GLAAD Awards.

Accepting the gong virtually, the singer gushed: “I watch these award shows every year, and it really means a lot to me to be getting this so thank you very much.”

Meanwhile, KP joked all artists “have lived in sweats every single day” during Covid.

THE indie band who pipped US superstar

Demi Lovato to No1 album say guitar music has a lot to learn from pop.

After a close chart battle, Scottish rockers The Snuts’ debut album W.L. has scored the top spot beating Demi’s Dancing With The Devil.

Singer Jack Cochrane told me: “There’s so much bands could learn from pop, if we put the daft guitar pride aside for five minutes.”

The Snuts were underdogs against Demi’s first album since leaving rehab, but have the support of

Louis Tomlinson, who gave them a shout out on Twitter. Jack enthused: “Louis’ backing is magic.

That kind of support is something guitar bands often miss, purely out of their own ignorance.

“When I was younger, I thought it was guitar music against the world.

“That attitude stops you getting to places and into people’s worlds.

“Grime and pop artists help each other all the time, but there’s a real lack of that in guitar music.”

Despite his love of pop, Jack admitted he didn’t know Demi’s music until this week’s battle.

Jack explained: “From what I’ve read this week, Demi is a huge international star.

“I want to hear her album as soon as I can, but she seems good.

“There could be much worse huge US pop stars to be up against!”

The Snuts are from the same West Lothian district as Lewis Capaldi.

Jack revealed: “I felt like we should aim for a No1 album on the day we signed our record deal.

“Being able to see first-hand the hard work Lewis put in was really inspiring.

“We knew then that we’d have to put the hours in over and above any normal job.

“Battling for No1 is the result of that – this is how I wanted it to be.”
