This year Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 95th birthday and the nation celebrates along with her. She is not only our longest reigning monarch, but also our oldest reigning monarch. No British monarch before her has ever celebrated the milestone of a 95th birthday!

This is why an important new gold one-eighth sovereign coin has been struck featuring a new interpretation of one of Britain’s most iconic gold coin designs.

HISTORIC FIRSTS MAKE THIS AN IMPORTANT COIN FOR COLLECTORS

Queen Elizabeth II is often compared with her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria. Their reigns have a number of similarities and now, this new gold one-eighth sovereign increases those even further.

This new coin for 2021 features the first new version of the iconic ‘Una and the lion’ design since 1839. Inspired by Edmund Spenser’s epic medieval poem ‘The Faerie Queene’, it was the young Queen Victoria who was first depicted as Una with the lion on the first gold five pound coin of her reign in 1839. Now, her great-great granddaughter Queen Elizabeth II appears as Una, side by side with the British Lion.

The exciting new treatment of this historic and beautiful motif is by the talented artist Jody Clark. His name may already be familiar to you as he is the creator of Queen Elizabeth II’S current coinage portrait. So, in another exciting first, this is the first time the Queen appears on both sides of the coin in portraits by the same designer! There is one further feature that makes this new gold coin even more exciting. Owing to the unmatched significance of this royal event, these coins have been produced in the highest purity gold possible.

While sovereigns are customarily minted in 22 carat gold (91.67% pure), these new coins are minted from 24 carat gold - an exciting 99.99% pure!

FEWER THAN 1 IN 5,000 UK HOUSEHOLDS CAN OWN ONE

This new coin has a number of significant historical links that mean it will be highly sought-after by collectors - however, many will potentially miss out as the release

This new gold oneeighth sovereign celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’S 95th Birthday. It features the first new interpretation of the Una and the lion theme since the iconic gold coin of 1839 depicting Queen Victoria. This skilful new interpretation is by Jody Clark, designer of the current coinage portrait of The Queen. This means both sides are the work of the same designer also a rarity! Just 5,999 are being produced. It is available now for the introductory price of just £69 (plus £4.99 P&P), but only until 30th June 2021 after which the price will be £99, subject to availability. There is a limit of one coin per household at the introductory price.

Diameter: 11.0mm is subject to a strict limit. Authorised by Alderney and approved by both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Buckingham Palace, it is restricted to a mintage of just 5,999 coins - put into context, it means that fewer than 1 in every four-thousand UK households can own one.

NEW COIN IS GUARANTEED TO SELL OUT!

Availability of this special commemorative coin will end on 31st July 2021. At that time, in the unlikely event that any coins remain unsold, they will be melted down. Owners will be issued with a new certificate stating the final mintage. This may well be considerably lower than 5,999. This ensures there will be little or no surplus on the secondary market, reinforcing the rarity of the coin you have purchased.
