Star pulls in hotel freebies for prizes

- ■ by DAVID O’DORNAN news@dailystar.co.uk

STACEY Solomon admits she pinches freebie hotel shampoos and conditioners – and uses them as gifts in homemade Christmas crackers.

The canny Loose Women star, 31, reckons it saves her a small fortune. Stacey said: “I make my own crackers, because I genuinely think shop-bought crackers are terrible.

“Even when you spend £25 on a pack of posh crackers – which I think is an absolute joke – all you get in there is a bloomin’ pencil or a miniature bowling set that no-one’s ever going to use.

“It’s a load of rubbish! So I order cracker kits online in

September, when they tend to be a bit cheaper.

“Basically, you get the snappy stick, joke and a hat – paper, so all recyclable – as well as a paper wrapper for the cracker itself. All you need to do is add your own gift.

“So if I know that my mum’s favourite chocolate is a Daim bar, I can put a mini Daim bar in there. I can even do what I do with advent calendars and put mini tester perfumes in there – everyone loves those!

“Personally, I’d much rather have a mini Chanel scent inside my cracker than another bloomin’ thimble.” In her new book Tap To Tidy, Stacey confessed she can’t resist pinching freebie bathroom items from hotels for her crackers.

She admitted: “Let’s say you go on a holiday and they’ve got really nice shampoo and conditioners in the hotel – save up the freebies and use them as cracker prizes at Christmas.

“It doesn’t even have to be a present – you could write a little message to each person if you wanted. And even if you spent money on miniatures, it should still work out a lot better value per cracker – more bang for your buck, if you like.

“And yes, they do still bang if you make them from a kit!”
