get goals and I can win football matches.’” Guardiola’s side have bombed out in the last eight of the Champions League in each of the last three seasons – losing to Liverpool, Tottenham and, last year, Lyon.

Sterling insisted there was confidence in the side they will not muck it up yet again, even though he believes the tie should be done and dusted after last week’s first leg at the Etihad.

“I felt that was a game which should have been won 3-0,” he said.

“We had the chance to finish that game off. Now going away is definitely going to be a difficult one.

“If we can get past this stage we can fly but we are not feeling the pressure.

“If you come into our changing room, you wouldn’t even realise there is a game going on, that’s how chilled the guys are.”

Sterling admitted that they have made life difficult for themselves taking only a narrow lead to Dortmund.

But he added: “The manager is just trying to stress, ‘Just play our football.’

“I feel like if we do that, without overthinking or doing too much, we will win the second leg.”

RAHEEM STERLING has no regrets about speaking out on racism – despite his natural instinct to keep a low profile.

The Manchester City forward, speaking to Rio Ferdinand (inset) and BT Sport’s Youtube Channel, admitted the younger version of himself might not have got involved.

But since becoming a father he says his outlook has changed.

“I do feel that not just as football players but people in the public eye you tend to shy away from controversy or things that can get people on your wrong side,” said Sterling.

“You tend to not want to get involved in that but there are times when you have to step up to the plate and say this is plain wrong.

“You get to a certain point in your life and you then look at your son or your daughter and you understand these values.

“You have to take responsibility some times and say what is right.

“I feel people using their platforms for that is a good cause and a good thing to do.”
