Politics? Cop that

Newly-appointed Greater Manchester Police boss Stephen Watson certainly talks the talk.

He is not afraid to say that his officers will not be woke. And quite right too.

Cops are not employed to show their political opinions. It is their job to uphold the law and to investigate crimes.

It doesn’t matter whether officers attending protests agree with the cause or not.

They are there to keep the peace and make sure the law is not broken.

That doesn’t mean forces cannot or should not make institutional changes within police stations.

But they cannot and involved with politics.

As soon as they show any bias they lose credibility with the public they serve.

Let’s hope Chief Constable Watson walks the walk too. should not get
