YOUNG adults are ditching full-time careers and taking on multiple part-time roles instead.

Two-thirds of millennials and Gen Zs, who are leaving education, are open to working in more than one field.

Richard Fearn, based in London, has three different jobs on the go – producing a musical, managing technology investments and running a non-profit company.

He said: “Modern attitudes and flexible technology allow my generation to juggle a multitude of things in a way we’ve never been able to before.”

According to a study by professional social network Polywork, 70% say they aren’t defined by a single job title any more and 61% feel an “exciting” working life is more important than money.

The most popular positions include mentoring and speaking at events.

Peter Johnston, of Polywork, said: “People are rejecting the single job titles bestowed upon them.”

Ex-spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley is sad that he and the band will not celebrate their 40th anniversary together.

The Londoner toasts four decades of music with a 36-date solo tour next year. Despite their fall-out, he’s sad he won’t be with his former bandmates.

Tony told me: “It is a shame because I’m celebrating my personal 40th anniversary in music but if Spandau had been together we would be doing it as a band. But that’s life.

“You get to a point in life where you don’t need the angst, I just go out there and have fun.

“It would nice if somebody asked them, ‘Why did Tone really leave?’ It’s for them to say, they started it, that’s how I look at it.”

Tony says he will go beyond Spandau for his

40th shows.

He explained: “I’ll play all the hits but I might go to other places, like when I was 16 and the first song I sang at Pontins holiday camp.

“The songs I sang at a rehearsal studio before Spandau became

Spandau, maybe some classic R&B songs as well.”

Tony’s tour kicks off March 1 in Bexhill, East Sussex, and concludes at the Blackpool Opera House on May 27 next year.
