No Office job pays for James
SOPRANOS legend James Gandolfini got £2.17million not to appear in the US version of The Office.
The actor, who played mob boss Tony Soprano on the HBO series, was ready to take over the lead role on the hit comedy.
Fellow Sopranos star Michael Imperioli said to The Office creator Ricky Gervais: “They discussed having Gandolfini at one point replace Steve Carell.”
Ricky replied: “Yeah, they paid him off to keep the legacy of Sopranos pure?”
James died from a heart attack while in Rome in 2013 at the age of 51.
