ANGER AT HOL SWITCH

-

THE Government has been accused of “double standards” after switching Ibiza, Majorca and Menorca back to the amber list.

They were only moved to the green travel list a fortnight ago. Those returning to England, Scotland and Wales after 4am on Monday will need to quarantine, potentially sparking a rush for holidaymakers to get home before the deadline.

Johan Lundgren, chief executive of easyjet, said: “We cannot understand why the Government is going to allow people to go to a nightclub but is not comfortable with people going to the beaches of Europe where the infection rates are lower.

“Yet again we see this double standard with travel.” Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said measures for the Balearics were being upgraded due to Covid-19 rates having doubled since they were added to the green list on June 30.
