Alcohol is good for you – let’s raise a glass to that

❑ At last some good news from boffins as they say that moderate consumptio­n of beer and wine is good for us as it helps reduce the risk of cardiovasc­ular problems and blocked arteries. It has been said before that moderate consumptio­n of alcohol is better for us than being teetotal, and this latest research confirms this. I’ll drink to that! Dave Pinfold, Stockport.

❑ I have been trying to speak to a human being at DVLA, yet get no where. I tried their web chat service, but that too is useless. If the shoe was on the other foot, I bet they would be quick enough to fine me if I didn’t do something.

❑ It’s bad enough adults on bikes speeding on footpaths, but I’ve now seen some on their mobiles. Small children can’t always be seen running up their own paths. Will it take a child getting hurt before anything is done to keep them safe.

❑ Threats and abuse on line, social media. The police should use traffic police policy. If a vehicle is caught on camera speeding they ask the owner to identify driver. If they cannot for whatever reason. The police will prosecute the owner even if they were not driving. Abuse, threats and bullying on Internet. Police should demand Internet companies identify posters. If they refuse the social media company should be prosecuted. Problem solved. Easy innit. anon
