- By DOUGLAS WHITBREAD news@dailystar.co.uk

A Drug-driving mum who caused a crash at 88mph while filming herself on Snapchat has been spared jail.

Crystal Ward, 27, who was already banned from the roads, lost control as her passenger pleaded: “Babe!”

A court heard the car hit the crash barrier of a motorway slip road with such force that the engine was hurled from the vehicle and was hit by a passing car.

Ward, who was under the influence of cannabis and not wearing a seatbelt, was thown from the vehicle, and her passenger, thought to be her boyfriend, was trapped in the wreckage.

Miraculously no-one was killed in the smash on the

M60 near Sale, Gtr Manchester, in June last year.

Tests showed Ward, who suffered spinal injuries, was four times the drug-driving limit for cannabis.

She was serving a 40-month ban for a previous drink and drug-driving conviction.

Ward later said: “Even if I had a licence I wouldn’t get behind the wheel of a car again.

“I could have killed people.” At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, Ward, of Bradford, West Yorks, admitted drug-driving, driving while disqualified and having no insurance. She wept as she was given 12 months’ jail suspended for two years after pleading her children would be affected by her going to prison. Ward was also disqualified from driving for another five years.
