Benitez to trade
RAFA BENITEZ admits he will need to be clever in his summer trading if he is to build a competitive Everton squad.
The new manager was forthright when unveiled this week, conceding the Blues can’t spend their way to success despite the backing of billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri and his tycoon sponsor Alisher Usmanov.
That means offloading star players on big money, despite a collapse in the global transfer market because of the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Benitez seemed clear in his suggestion that some big stars could go if Everton can find a buyer.
He said: “If you have players with big salaries that aren’t playing you want to find a solution and this solution will mean money to spend on new players.”
